I bought Office 16 with the assumption that it would work. Every time it is opened, it will last for about a minute and then crash. I have tried every fix that the internet has to offer so far, and nothing seems to work. After spending hours scouring forums I decided to post the same problem that everyone else had been posting myself, and didn't get any better luck than the other hundreds (or more) people that are experiencing the same problem that I am.
Now because the people at the 'Office 365 community' have given up on me and can't find any solution that helps in the slightest, they have directed me here. They told me to copy and paste the detail log of my error message but it makes this message too long, so whoever feels like they might be able to helps, I can email it or do something else with it. If there is no solution I would like to get my money back because I spent it on a product that doesn't work. I also have this issue.

Microsoft on Tuesday updated Office 2016 for Mac with security patches and a host of smaller feature changes, but did not fix the constant-crash problem users have reported on OS X El Capitan. Office 2016 for Mac is designed from the ground up to take advantage of the latest Mac features, including Retina display, full screen view support, and even scroll bounce. It’s the perfect combination of the Office you know and trust, and the Mac you love.
I've done everything: safe mode reboot, repair permissions, verify/repair fonts (all were OK, by the way), reset Keychain, deleted Normal.dotm, removed all templates, removed all add-ins, removed all macros, uninstalled fully/reinstalled Office. I use primarily Word 2016 for Mac and not the other apps in the Office suite, but Word 2016 for Mac is unusable-it crashes after ca. 1 minute after launching no matter the context, no matter the activity. I have been using Word 2016 for Mac since it was in beta, and it's never had this level of instability. Right now, it's essentially an unusable product.
This problem also seems to be widespread judging by similar posts in various Microsoft forums. (A couple of days ago, Word was also not signing in properly to Office 365, although I am no longer seeing that problem-not sure if it could be related or not.) The problem has been around for ca. It would be great to get the developer onto an assessment of the cause(s) and get a fix out, because the product is not usable as it is. I did everything you wrote but with no positive result. Everytime I open each Office Mac app it crashes after not even a minute. I even tried to re-install from zero OS X Yosemite but nothing changed, they keep crashing.
I Hoped that with the new update something would have improved, but with no results. I am a little bit angry, since i bought a product I cannot use. I decided that I'll wait some more time to look for an answer then I will ask for a refund, since the product is not working. I am running the latest update of Office Mac 2016 on a Macbook pro mid 2009, 8 Gb RAM, SSD 128gb, OS X Yosemite 10.10.5. I too am having very frequent Excel and Word 2016 crashes. It happens most often if I have had a document open for a period of time and then I open another. Before the new doc comes up, Excel or Word will crash with the exact same error everyone is reporting.
This has been sent to Microsoft 10's of times from me now. This has been an ongoing issue since an update came out after installing the initial 2016 release. I check every day for updates and with every new update my hopes are dashed within 30 minutes of using the product.
I have to boot up my Windows VM image and run the Windows version of Office. The Mac version is completely unusable as is.
